Welcome to Japan Super Science Fair 2017!

We are very pleased to host the 15th Japan Super Science Fair (JSSF) from November 3rd to November 7th, 2017 here in Kyoto, Japan. JSSF is a 5-day international student conference coordinated by Ritsumeikan High School as a part of the "Super Science High School (SSH)" project, which is a government initiative to promote science education. This is an international festival of young scientists, where students from around the world come together to learn intensively through collaborative research projects and various social/cultural activities which stimulate students' scientific and global mindset.

We have been recently experiencing various rapid social changes due to globalization and scientific evolution. I believe that young scientists, like the participants of this event, should be ready for leading the global and local society towards a positive future. Such global leaders are expected to be equipped with a high level of scientific literacy as well as a well-developed sense of social contribution, authenticity towards their professional mission, and non-ethnocentric attitudes towards people of various backgrounds. I hope this event gives students an opportunity to grow themselves for such directions.

In closing, it is my hope that the friendship of all the participants develops through this opportunity which will become even more valuable in their future when they will play a major role in various communities as global leaders.

Marina Tsuji,

I appreciate all the students and teachers from around the world who will be participating in this year’s JSSF. JSSF is celebrating its 15th year anniversary this year. With your help, I hope to make it the most memorable JSSF ever.

The main events of JSSF are the science project presentations and the science project poster exhibition. These particular forums are where each one of you can share your research and in return learn new and exciting things from other participants.

Also, we have this incredible opportunity to combine our knowledge and ideas to find solutions to the problems given to us in each of the science zones. It is a great opportunity for us to work together with students from other countries.

Currently, the JSSF Committee members are busy organizing different events that will encourage more communication among the participants. It is through these activities that we hope to generate deeper conversations where we all can learn and grow from the experience.

My deepest wish is for you to try a variety of things offered at JSSF. I challenge you to, "Try something new." Don’t limit yourself to only the familiar.

In conclusion, I am looking forward to spending time with everyone for one week this November. Let’s make this JSSF 2017 a great and truly memorable fair together!
