Principal,

Miki Horie, Ph.D.
Welcome to Rits Super Global Forum 2019!
We are very pleased to host the 6th Rits Super Global Forum from Nov. 12 to 16, 2019, with many guest students and teachers from around the world. RSGF originally started as a part of the "Super Global High school (SGH)" project, which was a government initiative to promote the internationalization of high school education. Based on our 5-year experience as a SGH designated high school, we are now trying to further our goal of achieving global education.

The RSGF offers a platform for students from around the world to learn together through various intensive cross-cultural activities to find future-oriented solutions to current global issues. In order to reach to the best solutions, which as yet no one has come up with, we need to collaborate by sharing various views around the issue and go beyond what we already know about it. It is very important for all the participants of RSGF to believe that every single opinion is valuable and should be equally paid attention to. Moreover, I would like to emphasize that RSGF is a safe place in the world for you to express yourself and share your unique views. I am sure everyone here is respectful and willing to build trustful relationships, which will be some of the most valuable take-away gifts of the RSGF for you.

In closing, I believe that the friendships you develop through this opportunity will become even more valuable in your future. Your RSGF network will serve you as a community for your life-long global journey.

Students Committee Representative,
Rits Super Global Forum 2019
Yuki Azuma
It is a pleasure to host the 6th Rits Super Global Forum this year. Let me express our sincerest feeling of gratitude to everyone who has supported us this year in making this event a reality.

As you may well know, there are many social issues affecting our planet. The fact is even though these issues are varied, they are deeply connected to and with each other. In this forum, we, who carry the future will focus on an important issue the world is facing, analyze it through different lenses, have discussion sessions and consider solutions that mainly consider what we can do as high school students to realize a more sustainable world.

More than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into our oceans every year. We have developed a "disposable" lifestyle and it is estimated that around 50% of plastic used just once is thrown away. Plastic is killing more than 1.1 million seabirds and animals every year. These are the facts that everyone must know. Now, is the time that "we" must act to find ways to make a brighter future. With this problem in mind, the theme for this year's RSGF is Towards a Better World: Reducing Problems Related to Plastic Waste.

On behalf of the Student Planning Committee for this international conference, I look forward to welcoming from 10 countries students who are really devoted not only to preparing , for this event, but also for creating a more sustainable future.

We, teenagers have the power to change the world.
